Concepts and Kyrie Irving are no strangers to each other, developing a relationship out of a mutual affinity for skateboarding culture. In addition to bringing its famous “Lobster” theme to Irving’s signature sneakers, the Boston-based boutique also helped the current Brooklyn Net bring its interest in Egyptian archaeology, rituals and symbols to the form of shoes. For the latest attempt, Concepts, Irving and his sister Asia have created the Nike Kyrie 7 “Horus”.
Slated to drop Friday, May 7, alongside the Made in the USA “Feather of Maat” collection, the next pair indulges in vibrant shades of teal and orange. “CONCEPTS” branding appears on the heel and insole, while the boutique double “C” logo appears on the tongue and insole of the right shoe. Elsewhere, Irving’s logo also takes center stage on the left tongue in shimmering gold, but it’s accompanied by nods to ancient Egypt via symbols like the Eye of Horus (not to be). confused with the Eye of Ra that appeared on the Kyrie 5). The performance-ready tread forgoes any inspiration derived from ancient Egyptian glazed ceramics, but makes a statement of its own with its eye-catching citrus makeup.
The Kyrie 7 “Horus” releases via CNCPTS.com Friday, May 7. In the meantime, enjoy the images of the shoes below.
Elsewhere under the Nike Basketball banner, the LeBron 8 “South Beach” is expected to return before the end of May.
