Although Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant haven’t played a full NBA season together, the Brooklyn Nets guard has expressed how connected he feels to the 6’10” forward, having gone so far as to say that he was Durant in a past life. As for footwear, the next set of the Nike KD 14 dates back to 2014 as it was inspired by Irving’s very first signature sneaker: the Nike Kyrie 1 “Dream”.
Similar to its muse, the upcoming pair mostly indulges in a black tone. Its sporadically covered mesh base features a slew of hues and patterns inspired by the honor and privilege Irving felt upon joining the prestigious Nike Basketball family at age 22. Durant’s take flaunts the brightly colored pattern on the heel more than his current teammate’s shoe, but forgoes any gradient profile. Instead, the 14th Nike KD proposal features a Scarlet-dipped lockdown strap, which perfectly matches the outsole.
An official Nike SNKRS release date has not been disclosed, but this KD 14 “Ky-D” is likely to launch as the Brooklyn Nets work their way through the NBA Playoffs.
